Absolutely amazing BBQ Spot! We visited Tampa a few weeks ago, and I can't believe I am JUST getting around to leaving this review! We tried the brisket (duh), and the fall-off-your-bone ribs. I also probably purchased every single side that they had available at the time. I am definitely a glutton when it comes to great BBQ, and I feel like my search for the best might finally be over. We were lucky to get there right before they sold out for the day, which is usually by 12pm for most items, although the advertised hours are listed as 11am-4pm. We got the last rack of ribs and nearly the last bit of brisket! Sadly, they were all out of the deep fried fish (which is why we made the trek), but we will definitely visit again to check it out. One more thing: do not let the exterior through you off, as it for sure gives off hole-in-the-wall vibes, but the atmosphere drastically changes once you enter. You are happily greeted, you can browse the merch for sale, and they treat you like a regular customer. This is the Jewel of the Bay!
Great BBQ! I had lunch here for the first time last week and had the (lean) brisket with mashed potatoes and cucumber salad. Come in hungry and be ready to abandon your diet. The place is a bit sprawling and confusing...I remember taking lots of turns to get to one of the back outdoor patio areas. I could be wrong, but no one in my group could find indoor seating. The closest to indoor was a screened-in/open-air area. So it can be a bit hot! I can't wait to grab some more food from here! And when it cools down, I'll dine in again. Enjoy! :-)
Bear with me now, because if my foodie review is long, that means it's worth it, so keep reading! The Brisket Shoppe, located in Tampa, has to be some of the best damn BBQ I've ever had! Living in Florida, there are hundreds of BBQ joints that are good, but they often leave you thinking, "This is good, but nothing comparable to Texas or the real South." However, I think this place is as good as it's gonna get in Florida! Defiantly in my top 3. My friends and I were googling good BBQ before a concert in Tampa, and this place had great reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. We're so glad we did. The outside gives off shack vibes, but once you step in, you're immediately hit with the intoxicating aroma of smoked meats. They're only opened Thur-Sat from 11-4 or until sold out, and take that as a warning because one time, we got there just an hour after opening, and the ribs were already sold out! Inside, you'll see a lot of commercial grills and merchandise on sale, along with hanging dried meats, which is a cool sight to see. If you veer off to the right, you'll find touchscreens to help you order, or you can order with a worker if you've never been. Th staff is very friendly and always happy to help! The menu is straightforward and not overwhelming. I always build my own platter to get a little bit of everything. My go-to is the moist brisket and ribs. First time eating there me and friends were silent for a good 10min because we couldn't get a word in, it was so good. The quality of the meat really shines through. For sides, you can't go wrong with their mac and cheese, and their beef tallow french fries which are the absolute best! The oil gives the fries SO much flavor and crunch without making them greasy. All their meals come with a baked yeast roll with a sweet brisket center, pickles, and pickled onions, all of which are delicious. The house-made sauces are tasty, but honestly, the meat is so good on its own that you don't even need them. The ribs are large, and they cut the brisket to your liking--I go for moist and a little fatty. The chicken has a unique smoked flavor too. Eating here really makes me a proud carnivore. The Pitmaster Empanada, filled with wagyu brisket and pimento cheese, is also a delicious addition. To sweeten the deal, I always get their sweet tea and their "Almost World Famous Banana Pudding." I usually have to take it to go because I'm so full, but it's a must-buy. I've visited them when they first opened, and now, a couple of years later, they still have the best quality and greatest service. They've expanded their outside seating, which is great for large groups. It's all outdoor seating, but there is plenty of shade and coverage. There are drink stations with all the utensils and their sweet tea. Everyone eating there looks highly satisfied, the locals know good food. The owner, Danny, is such a kind, personable guy. He's always walking around the tables, making sure everyone is taken care of. He even remembered me and my friend from last time, which was so genuine and cool. Danny really shows pride in his work, and his family, who works alongside him, are also such happy, kind people. I usually spend a pretty penny when I visit here, but it's all worth it because quality is money, baby! I wish I lived closer, but seriously, I don't eat anywhere else if I'm in Tampa. It's a tradition now!
This place is sooo good! We tried it for lunch for the first time today. The place was pretty busy, but we got our food quick. We both tried their '1 meat + 2 sides' entree. I got their brisket, Mac n cheese, and collard greens. The brisket was so tender and had the perfect seasoning. I loved their mango habanero BBQ sauce with it. The Mac and cheese was just as good. The collard greens were good, but I've had better. They had a little bit too much of a vinegar taste and could've been softer. You can tell this place is passionate about what they do. The layout can be a bit confusing, but we found our way around. We will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. They are only open Thursday - Saturday, 11 am - until sold old, or 4 pm. There's a reason they are so good. They also had ample parking too! @living.with.reg
Very solid BBQ! The brisket is definitely delicious. Ribs were - meaty - smoky - deliciousy And the bon bons are one of their extra special - I've only tasted it there - things. The sides I got - collard greens, macaroni/cheese - they ain't bs'ing. Somebody is back there cooking their ass off. The things that aren't my preference, but I'm sure someone else is loooving them - the sausage doesn't have enough snap to it - I'll try the hot link next time and the baked beans - I'm not a huge fan of their recipe
I recommend the brisket shop, the food was delicious. But you have to eat outside and it was way too hot and you have to take your own orders .
Wow!! From its early beginnings to today TBS is a hip lunch spot, with THE BEST BBQ in the South! Do yourself a favor and stop by for lunch or just to tour this incredible venue.
Craving some bbq and wanted to give The Brisket Shoppe a try. It's counter service, you'll order your food at a computer and pick it up before walking out to the seating area. They have a very simple menu, we started off with just trying the BBQ sandwich that comes with your choice of meat, we got the pork for $12. The baguette was really fresh and tasted more homemade than just your typical bagged bread. I loved all the BBQ sauces to try and not sure if the pork had some sort of cinnamon in it but it was really tasty. We also tried the pit masters empanadas, 2 for $16. Super flaky, large and such creamy pimento cheese, oh so good. I do wish they would have had more wagu brisket inside them. It seemed to be almost like flakes of bacon. Loved all the available outdoor seating areas and how dog friendly the place was. We were even welcomed into the ac when ordering with our pup, he greatly appreciated that after his hot dog walk. We were very impressed with our first visit!
Wow! The Brisket Shoppe is so good and it delivers on both food & service! We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and there was a short wait. The guy at the front was monitoring us to let us know who was next, and provided free water while we waited. We ordered at the screen and within 5 minutes are food was ready for pick up. I had the 1 meat and 2 sides. I got the brisket (moist & lean) and let me tell you it did not disappoint. It was flavorful and the portions were more than generous. I took my plate home and had enough for dinner. My boyfriend got the burnt ends with 2 meats and 2 sides and gobbled it up! Overall, such a great vibe with amazing food. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends!
I think this was my favorite food discovery of 2023. Yes absolutely get the brisket, it was so flavorful and tender. The bbq is Texas style. When you walk in, it's like a store and there are no seating to be seen. But WAIT, theres a surprise outdoor patio! We placed our order and grabbed a few FREE drinks including frozen rose/daquiri?? It was amazing and they have free sweet tea. Theres so much to look at in the shop including raw aged steaks, smokers, bbq equipment. Get the cole slaw!! Delicious. However, the tallow fries were kinda tasteless. I love the backyard feel of the place, really seemed like we were eating bbq at someone's house. They will bring your food outside to you. I can't wait to go back! Follow their instagram to know when they have giant beef ribs. You need to order the beef ribs online and pick it up on Saturdays only.
